Audi q7 3.0tdi inlet manifold problems
Discussion
There are three approaches,
- the drop link and arm repair kit from Audi, about £11 a side from the dealer (ebay sellers charge extra). If you want to try that, many dealers don't know\won't admit this exists, go to the parts counter with the part number (google, I've posted it before) and insist they look it up.
Luckily, the one that always fails is the one next to the turbo, so the link can be changed insitu in minutes, the other side can be done by loosening the upper manifold to get a bit of clearance.
That might work - I got a few months out of them - but I'd go for,
- a repair kit consisting of the manifold flaps, the bearings they run on, and the external linkage to the servomotor that moves them. Last time I looked a set to do both sides was about £100.
- exchange manifolds. Nice, clean, ready to fit replacement manifolds that come with the above done, plus a better linkage than the original plastic VW one. About £250-300 iirc.
When I did my own car, I went for the latter option and fitted them myself in an afternoon.
You almost certainly do not need the servo motors, whatever the fault code says.
