Display Cabinets

I've a collection of 1:72 aircraft and 1:43 cars which are at present in an Ikea modular system 280mm deep, which is too deep. I'm loooking (in vain, it seems) for glass-fronted display cabinets 100mm - 200mm deep. Any ideas chaps?

If you don't mind going second hand, the Ikea Bertby;



is a nice solution that can be made dust resistant with a bit of work.

Anywhere between 20 and 50 quid, eBay completed listings suggest. Unfortunately it is one of those really nice or useful products that Ikea discontinued.

three lined with the books I love

one lined with a wide window (almost full width about nine or ten feet) and with my work bench in front of it

dammit I do like those shelving units though

If you don't mind spending a few quid then your local cabinet maker should be able to knock you one up, budget will vary dependent upon whether you wanted painted mdf, veneer or solid. Then you get made exactly what you want

I've always found picture pride displays to be good.

Mind....I have a bunch of those Ikea jobbies too..reet cheap!

There's a virtually identical display in the Ferrari Museum in Maranello IIRC.

Ah, I assumed it was yours - or is it yours and you've built a replica?

ETA, I know it's a repost, but I had these custom made by "Just Bases" for my old 1:20 F1 kits:

They weren't *that* expensive - they are exactly what I wanted built to my dimensions and finish. I would think that if you really wanted something like the Maranello display, you could get something similar from him. The reason I got them was becasue it was a choice between chucking the models away, or keping them, but out of reach of the youngsters.

I was lucky enough to visit Museo Ferrari on Friday.

Some of the stuff in the shop was quite breathtaking - 280e for 1/43 (looked a bit better than Minichamps) and an eye watering 3650e for a 1/12 F1. Having said that I picked up a couple of bargains for me and my grandson.
