Council refusing to empty our bin, apparently too heavy.
Discussion
There are four people in our house, we have a standard-size wheelie bin and recently the council (binmen) have slapped stickers on it saying that the bin is overweight and are refusing to empty it. There is a family of chavs along the street who never stop breeding and have the biggest wheelie bin available, yet theirs is not overweight despite being twice the size of ours. Our bin is not being filled above the lid and is only being used for household waste...I don't know WTF the problem is, we aren't putting bricks in it FFS
I would honestly say that we recycle more than most.

Elfnsafety. Can't have binmen lifting anything.
I thought wheeliebins clipped onto the back and were tipped hydraulically?
They do, but they have to pull the bin three feet to the back of the truck (we, of course, have to move the bin forty feet from our back garden to the road). I just found an article on the Daily Fail website saying that a bin is classed as being overweight if it cannot be moved with the use of only two fingers I thought wheeliebins clipped onto the back and were tipped hydraulically?

So a quarter of the bin men will be required as they'll be loading / moving four bins at a time ?

That is why they have wheels!
It's probably not the binmen's fault; Head Numpty at the Council has issued the edict and they are obliged to follow orders.
But if it's too heavy for a trained bin man operatve personage to move, then it is certainly too heavy for you to move 40 feet. You will have to leave it to rot and ask for another one...
My binmen are great, they take everything

Likewise, even when i have been taking the bin down to the gates and thinking "I'll be lucky not to get told to knob off with this, it weighs an fing tonne!"
I would call the council and speke to them about it, in a calm and rational manner. Usually they are very helpful.
The trucks themselves will refuse to lift a bin that is overweight. (having worked doing this a couple of times years ago as a student I have experience!) I'm not sure if it has different allowances for the different sized bins but if the truck won't pick it up there's nothing the bin men can do to make it.
Councils - run by the less intelligent for the less intelligent. Is a simple problem to fix, you just have to get into the correct mindset.
I suggest undercover of darkness setting fire to the whole lot in the middle of the road.
Then persistently deny all knowledge. Kids today innit.
Council will supply you with a nice new bin and remove the (now considerably lighter) old one.
