while i like to think that roots type blowers with constant flow injection is proper drag racing like you see on top of fuel altereds and funys and fuel cars,i have just been involved with building matt wrights roller which uses twin turbo technology and electronic injection, using computers to run the injection and for data logging.
I am convinced that there will be a lot more of these cars in a few years time,i realise there are some now but not that many,
Anyway,,its first full run on friday gave us an 8.0 incredibly easily,,the second pass looked like a high 7 but we didnt get a ticket as a flock of birds tripped the finish lights 3 seconds into the run but eveyone said it looked faster.
it also must be said that the car was on on the rev limiter for the entire run as it drove straight thru the convertor.
this has opened my eyes as everthing on the car is readilly available to buy in the states and over here,,,,heres to running 7.50s in a street legal car,,,,,totally amazing.......bill

We were there on Friday and saw the car run. Absolutely awesome to watch, you see what looks like a tank sitting on the line and then it just takes off and runs a silly number....fabulous clap

There certainly is a future for Turbo combinations, but it is very dependant on the class. For heads up classes that use street tyres or have tyre width resrictions the turbo route is certainly the best way to go.

For Index or ET classes though, (which make up the majority of Sportsman racing) I have yet to see enough consistency from turbo combinations for them to be fully competitive.

Is there a plan for a competitive debut for the car this season, or will it be 2012?

Hi all
First of all i must thanks Bill at fester race car for building such an awesome car for us to go play with. And play is exactly what we will be doing ,having fun no rules no bull st just out and out OUT LAW fun . we wont be Msa class racing the car was built as an out law to run as fast as possible using off the self parts.
The dream is to run HotRod magazines Drag week in The USA next year if we can find some sponsers that is . In the mean time lets get that seven under our belts.

Absolutely the way to go and representative of what's been used on road car technology right now.
Infinitely adjustable and the future whether some like it or not .....

That's true, and it has been for a while. That's why EFI is outlawed in most of the pro classes.

EFi twin turbos in drag racing is representative of road car technology 15 years ago not right now. people just think its modern as a computer is involved.

Andy we are well aware that you ran 7.40 3 years ago to be truthfull thats my driving force, to try and match some of the times you did in red victor 2.
I think the point bill is trying make is the turbo/efi are more readily available and at affordable prices so being the future for more people and not the privilaged few with big budgets.Theres nothing special in our car that cant be bought of the self ,A good chassie builder and an engine tuner who nows his product,SIMPLES

Hi andy, theres no way i missed that, although i have often said that this is a wierd sport in that its possible to be very insular inside the sport, there is not a lot of crossover from class to class, centre steer cars rarely overlap into doorslammer cars etc.Ithink that point im trying to make is that because of the r and d done previously by people like yourself, this stuff is now readilly available,,,if you have acces s to the money of course.....on the shoulders of giants etc .Miss out on the times you ran???no ,dont think so,,,,,,please factor in the fact that i am quite excited ,see you soon,,,,,bill

Now if only we could get a bit more noise out of them, and a bit more st hanging out of the bonnet and I'd be happy biggrin

I was stood at the finish line for the second pass and given the rate that the Roller went tanking past I'd say that 7's are in the bag already!

Even the 'bird has started pulling it's weight too!!

We need more cars running hairdryers. Been looking at it in the states and theres endless drag cars running them. I thought nitrous had gone past it though but I was proved wrong as they are keeping up.
