So back in February I specifically booked and paid for a Lotus Elise SC through Hertz for a roadtrip in europe with a few Lotus mates. A long story short I fly in from Australia to Milan this weekend and called the branch of Hertz in Milan to be told despite previous assurances that they cannot provide a Lotus and at best it will be an SLK.

I've complained but the manager can only say sorry and offer a discount. I called Hertz UK who I booked through and they weren't that helpful, I'm waiting for them to call me back but previously they haven't.

So does anyone have contact details for someone who might help in Hertz and any ideas where I might get a fun car for a roadtrip at this late stage that won't cost seven fortunes, I'm happy to pay good money for a decent car but not sure my aussie dollars despite the exchange rate will stretch to a lambo.

perfect thanks thats exactly what I was looking for, I doubt they have a Lotus available in the area from the conversation I had but if I end up in an SLK I'll want them to look after me with a huge discount as 1) I won't keep up with the group and 2) it's way less fun than a supercharged elise

Either free (and that includes any additional charges) or a BIG upgrade - they will argue that they have provided a car and hence they have done their side of the contract. Of course, its not what you wanted and hence not good enough, so you can push for other stuff.

Not quite the same scenario, but done both - either free or something WAY better (though you might need to wait for that). Up to you. Might be worth taking the saving and spend it on something nice!
