Whats the best sounding kit car engine.

Hi there,right ive just sold my 400se tvr with straight through exhausts which sounded awsome,popping and banging all day long.So which engine will give off the most aural delights and sentations but not v8.The sound is what i fall in love with,there is such a massive variety of engines its mind blowing,so please help me.

What's a 'kit car engine'?

The only engines I can think of that were specifically manufactured for kit cars were the Climax FWE (made specially for the Lotus Elite) and the Lotus-Ford Twin Cam (for the Elan).

But if you want a winner:

Xflow gets my vote. I know its an old engine and there are better ones out there, but mine is on bike carbs and the sound (and smells) are just fantastic.

It does sound quite good though. Im not a fan of bike engines as they scream. A nice big v-twin like a guzzi in a jzr/pembleton/blackjack sounds amazing though too.
