Have almost completed my list of cars I want to own, apart from a TVR Chimaera and Porsche 944 turbo. So my Boxster S will be going to fund one of these. Just to fuel my obsessive classified viewing is there anything else I should consider?

Did think about an Elise or VX220 but as overweight 40 something I don’t want to provide a comedy moment for everyone when I get in and out and looked at a few 928s but hated the interiors.

Before I buggered my knee and ended up buying the SLK32 I was torn between a 944 turbo cab and a Chimaera wanted both of them smilesmile

Colour is upto you, I personally don't think the Chim shape suits Green..... Blue in any shade looks Fab on a Chim IMO.

agree not a fan of the greens at all especially the ones with the green interior as well. First choice would be blue but would consider just about anything else apart from green

For your situation I'd certainly go with a Chimaera.

Running costs arn't bad in comparison to the big Cerbs etc (so I'm lead to beleive) , bags of character , lovely noise , open top , BEST OF ALL IT'S BRITISH !

Well I can vouch for the 944. Lovely GT car for weekends away, very well balanced car too and brilliant performance from the engine. An easy car to drive as a first time sports car A great nodern classic, reasonable costs to run, lots of specialists out there. Insurance is also cheap being a classic now (my dad pays less than 150 quid fully comp for 5000/year, garages) and bombproof reliability, our S2 cabriolet has done 150,000 miles with no major problems.

Depends if you want to use the car, or pose/polish/try to impress the neighbours/quote car makes to friends.

None of what you mention will come close to the combination of driving nivarna/45 mpg-insanely low running costs/street cred, of a std Lotus Elise. If the car is to be used for 1-2k a year, the choice is yours, if you want a very special sports car to use all year round, and not break the bank, it's a no brainer, as our American friends say, Elise every time.

Chimera is certainly the favourite but do want to own a 944 or 968 at some point. Didn't actually think about the m3 I drive a 3 series everyday (company car) so not sure if it will feel special enough- I know they are prob hugely different to drive.

If you're a little bit brave and want to own something truly Italian, and very very special.

I've owned a minty 944 S2 (and a doggy 928....) and currently drive a Chim 400HC.

The Porsche and the Tiv are both excellent cars, the Porker is a beautifully balanced and precise piece of kit, not massively fast but handles sublimely; a great GT car which can be driven like a go kart.

However i found mine a bit too bland after a while, just wasn't an event to drive. Hence i made my childhood dream come true and bought the Chim...best thing i've ever done! A car not without its quirks but it just feels special and it sounds EPIC!

If you've got a garage I'd say Chim all day long!
