Just used local dealer for oil change, serving, etc.
Excellent service, well impressed. First time I've used them....
Only thing that did grate with me was:
"and we have washed the car for you sir"
I mean, top marks and all that. You can't really complain... except...
I was grating my teeth something aweful about it...
After spending 10-15 hours removing all hair line scratches/swirls and applying 50 quid worth of polishing products 2 weeks ago (maguire products, scratch X, full polish, full wax, keeping clean with detailer) the thing was perfect...
It was spotless and I had 20 sponges bought so that I could use a new one every time it needed washing.
they have now probably just removed most of my polish with cheap car wash and added back loads of swirls from their old sponge and shammy leather. :-(
It's not that I can see new scratches. Rather that I can imagine there MIGHT be some new ones.
Now have another 10-15 hour saturday ahead doing the whole lot again.
I realise that probably only Pies appreciates my teeth clenching moment but thought I'd share it with you anyway.
Last one of these was when I found out that my dad had 'done me a favour' and cleaned my car (and 4000 quid jap import yokohama alloys) on my 300zx... with washing up liquid.
They were simple, unlaquered aluminium. It was winter. I didn't realise he had done it for 2 weeks. By which time the things were fecked.
Not quite that bad... but now looking at every remaining hairline swirl and thinking
'was that there or is that new'
I know I won't be happy till I spend another weekend going through the whole thing again.. buggering arse.
I know.. STFU* and drive it. :-)

A guy I used to work with used to make a point, and leave a message in the car, that the car must not be washed while in for a service at the local BMW dealer
He also used to put small dobs of paint on vital nuts and bolts that would have to be broken if the invoiced work was to be carried out, and they were caught out on that one

my Saab dealer almost justify their high hourly rates by a) being very good towards their customers b) valeting my car almost everytime it is in! This time it was only for an MOT, corrosion check (for warranty) and air-con refill.
I remember the days when I had time to clean my car every week....now it's about every month and a bit (and then the Saab and TVR take it in turns :-( )
