And, somewhat unsurprisingly, is rather quite quick...

If you fly as a pilot and on a regular basis driving a single seater, F1, GP2, Indycar etc is not so difficult so long as you can fit inside. It is all about small gentle adjustments, understanding the data being fed to you and allowing physics to control what you are doing.
Tom Cruise flies for fun and I am sure that there are some excellent undiscovered drivers out there. Surprised Scientology are not sponsors....they just don't give you wings!!

d. I may not be a major fan of the guy but you have to respect he does have some skillsHow do we know he was quite quick? Anyone got any laptimes? All it says is his top speed was a bit short of DC's, nothing about actual laptime. There isn't much skill in hitting a decent top speed in 25 attempts, but there is alot in getting it around the corners quickly.
Obviously the Red Bull website is going to say he was quick when its a Red Bull PR event, or have i missed the obvious and there is some actual laptimes about? Cruise was beaten on top gear by Rowan, and while Rowan is a good driver, he has never raced right at the sharp end of amatur historic racing - hes always been a mid grid man, so i am more than a little sceptical that Cruise was actually anywhere near a good time of a pro standard driver.
