Front knock XJ8.............

I have a front knock on my 2001 XJR. CHnaged the drop links but no better. Had it back on the ramps today but no play in the bushes/ball joints/anti roll bar - nothing visible.

What else is could it be ? Last thing is to chnage the shock absorbers I guess but at 170 pound each i'd rather not unless I know its them.

Is there anything else it could be ?

Check the subframe V-mounts they can fail sometimes.

Could try changing the bottom shock bushes

yep, checked top and bottom bushes.

i also get not so much a knock but a slight thud when going over speed bumps still dont know what it is.had it checked a few times like you say rather not be changing shockers if not them. lets know if you get any further with it ? mine 2002 xjr with cats sus on cheers .steve g

Some XJ8 lower steering columns are prone to wear. Jaguar issued a TSB about this.

Symptoms are a sharp rattly knock over bumps. Hold the wheel between thumb and finger of one hand and the column where it goes into the black seal on the floorpan. Very gently turn the steering wheel back and fourth and feel for slack at the lower column - if there's any that that may be your problem.
