So, it's all been quiet for a few weeks, the 'harsh' Justice system has dealt with the poor, misunderstood miscreants, and everyone has learnt their lesson.

Enter the Notting Hill Carnival, complete with hugely increased Police presence, an earlier than usual finish time, and everyone looking over their shoulder just waiting for something to happen.

The Police have no doubt been monitoring the usual channels for any organised unrest, and hopefully any trouble will be dealt with either pro-actively, or harshly on the day and it will all go off with relatively no problems...

But I can't help but feel that the whole thing is a powder-keg just waiting to explode.

I hope I'm wrong.

Any thoughts?

I think a lot of senior rozzers will be praying for a damp holiday weekend.

Imagine the scenario - a couple of 'Bredrin' get stopped and searched, a scuffle ensues, the match is lit, a BIB gets a bit over-exuberant with the baton 'cause he's been on non-stop 12 hour shifts for 18 days...

This reads like a 'V For Vendetta' scenario...

What happens next?

Now here is a problem. Too many police and people may think their company is not welcome and kick off OR...
too few of them and some may think 'hang on' and kick off.

Heads you win, tails I lose it seems.

I still think some morons may try and make a political point BUT I think the rest of the crowd will tell them to shut up.

Well if it does kick off as expected then the annual subsidised mugging festival clearly doesn't need to ever happen again.

Funny how Notting Hill was once about the local Afro Caribbean community having a cultural knees up , while these days Notting Hill is stuffed full of Annabelles and Tristrans worrying over which type of organic tofu to buy.

6500 police was not enough to stop stabbings, muggings etc etc. anybody know the story here? to me it looks like the stabbed bloke does not know hes been stabbed yet and is having a go at the police or other promising young footballers to teh side of them, then seconds later is needed their help to keep him alive?

I know.
He was treated by the medical servcies with police helping(or at least standing over him). There is a few pictures on there.

Like I say it looks like he is having a go at them but that is possibly camera angle. Just wondering what he is doing with his arms up it appears an agressive gesture to me.

Looks like the mugger slit the wristwatch off the victim - he's holding what looks like a cut off watch in his left hand !!Apparently victim had hand wounds as well as abdomen.
