My X5 3.0SD is just about to run out of warranty, the cars done 40,000 miles, which of the three warranty options that BMW offer is the best one to go for in terms of value for money from peoples experience?

I went with the BMW extended with £100 excess as at least I know there won't be any unexpected big bills. Also thecombined BMW Emergency Service is good having needed it previously.

Has anyone else looked at the BMW comprehensive warranty vs. something like Warranty Wise's platinum cover? Trying to weigh up the two and interested in any recommendations.

Don't bother with aftermarket. BMW warranty, fully comp, zero excess.

Bear in mind that on the www.bmw-warranty.co.uk site, it automatically adds Emergency Assist to your quote; I have blanket AA cover so always take that straight off.

Looking at the difference between what's covered in Comprehensive and Named Component, there's not a lot of difference. Anyone had a claim turned down under Named Component?

Slight tangent, but BMW warranty related... I'm on extended warranty and have an oil service due soon. Does anyone know if I am able to supply my own LL compliant oil to be used and the warranty people be happy with it?

I've always supplied my own oil and there isn't even a note that I've done so made in the service book.
