I'm still having problems hot starting my Griff. I've swapped a couple of sensors (block water temp and fuel pressure) but it's still a b**ch to start when hot. It turns over OK but I have to give it throttle whilst cranking to get it to start.

I'm thinking it could be a problem with the fuel pressure regulator. Does anyone know what the 'classic' symptoms of this failing are or have any other ideas about my starting problem could be?

It can't be the starter motor as the engine turns over.
It can't be the coil as it does fire after some cranking and throttle. ???

Cheers

The fuel regulator could be a cause, likewise the fuel pump, fuel filter, lazy injectors, etc etc!!

Hot starting can be quite a number of things and sometimes it's just "technique" to re-start when red-hot.

Try switching the ignition on & off a number of times before engaging starter, this primes the pump and fuel rail - when very hot this can "force" the hotter fuel back down the return rail to the tank, replacing it with cooler fuel.

Dodgy regulators usually will cause the pump to run & run when switching on initially. Probably better to get garage to check fuel pressure at rail (or you do it with a fuel pressure gauage - should be around 35/45 psi (haven't the bible at hand - and that's another good place to start!!)).

Hey Trev ...it worked!! If I turn the ignition on and off a few times priming the fuel pump each time it starts a treat.

Does this mean it's a problem with the regulator?
