i was clearing out a storage unit i had a few weeks ago and i came across an ordinary looking carry case. i opened it up to find this inside!!

it's an old Schumacher Mi2 1/10 scale touring car that i used to race at club level along with some nicad batteries.

does anyone know of any 1/10 touring car clubs in leicestershire? i quite fancy getting back into it. it was loads of fun. failing that, perhaps an off road club?

thanks chaps

Try doing a google for BRCA (think it's www.BRCA.org but can't check as I'm in work sorry).

There is a section on there that list clubs by area.

Go on ................ you know you want to wink

1/10th offroad is typically lipos and brushless. Get yourself involved, I got back into it 5 years ago andhave never looked back

Unfortunately Ashby closed as it was a superb track

Hinckley is a very friendly club

BRCA is a good place to start looking or try one of the RC specific forums

I think the track is still there but patches of tarmac are missing meaning you can't do a full lap. As far as I know there was a falling out between the locals and the racers so the owner pulled the plug.

The hinckley address is wrong we now race off road during the summer at Hinckley rugby club and on road during the winter http://www.hinckleyrccc.co.uk/

dont know if anyone cares but i nipped over to the site of the old ashby woulds track and its now just all flat rubble! only a bit of the timing hut and a static green 20ft container remain (this used to contain the felt carpet used on indoor race events) was quite a sad day actually! and i nearly got gobbled up by a large black dog!

cool story bro etc!

Ashby got knocked on the head quite a few years ago now unfortunately. I never raced there personally but it was a good track from what I hear.

I think the main reason for it closing was the noise from the nitro's caused the neighbours to complain so rather than just run electric it was decided to close completely.

a wee change of plan, my wife and i are moving to Lincoln. I've had a look on the web but i can't find any on-road clubs within a reasonable distance. the closest is 20 miles away and it's 1/5 off road (hmm, perhaps i should buy a baja!!)

Does anyone know of an on-road club in Lincoln that i can race my mi2?

Link is to a far better search facility for RC car clubs than that on the BRCA web-site...

When I was involved with the 'sport' there were several clubs in Lincolnshire but unfortunately many have disappeared in recent times...

thanks, i fear you are correct. there is one listed in lincoln, but the website is dead. the rest are 45mins away. Grr.

the closest is 1/5 scale off road and i don't think i can make that sort of investment frown

Worksop isn't too far from Lincoln. They have a track called robin hood raceway which is arguably the best 1/10th offroad track in the country. They have a purpose built astro track and a brand new packed dirt track (the only one in the country) being unveiled at a huge meeting this weekend. Get yourself down to have a watch!

Is it only off road or is there on road touring car action too?

Not sure how far away Holbeach is but they were always the leading club in the Lincolnshire area...

Raced TC indoors on carpet...
