Just thought i'd see what sort of cars people have driven with high miles smile

me - 1990 BMW 535i which now has over 230k miles on the clock and still going strong. not the tidiest example by any means but plenty of life in the old girl yet.

cheers smile

Not driven but been in a Mercedes taxi in Cape Town that had done over 600,000 IIRC

It felt very very tired and saggy! but was still plodding on. I was fascinated by it. Would love to have had a drive!

I was in a recovery truck on Sunday (the third one of the day thanks to a hired van). It was a 2007, and it had done 356,000! It averaged £350 fuel every day. I was gobsmacked.
My highest mileage was the 306 I sold in April with 197,000. Stall ran like a dream, or as much of a dream a 1994 Diesel Peugeot could run. Great car and still going strong. It's replacement has done 125,000 and is as good as new.

Lamborghini Gallardo, with 14k miles on the clock.
(I usually trade my supercars in at or before the first service).
obviously, not really... I would never buy anything as small or weedy as a V10!!

The family Golf TDI now has over 153k on it, don't think I've driven anything with higher than that.

My E36 323 just ticked over 160k only major work that it's had in the time I've had it (since 140k) is suspension but I was going to drop it lower anyway. In fact apart from that I've barely spent anything on it, not mentioning fuel that is :s

Current Mk2 Astra 1.3L. 210k currently, in irregular daily use still. Auto choke does work! Oil and filter every 3k, renewed anti-freeze every 2-3 years is about all it needs, other than the occasional mod (5 stud, large brakes etc). Technically the wife's car, here next to her Nova, which has less than half those miles! (But same size front brakes.)

When I worked for Merc we had cars come in from one of these companies that does airport runs. I drove 1 E class that came in for work that had 365,000 miles on it. Was just coming up to 3 years old at the time. Still felt and drove like new but the guy did have the cars serviced every couple of months.

My mums Mitsubishi Carisma, had 147k when it went to the scrappage scheme and it was fine, although it was hers from new. Apart from a saggy gearbox there was no issues with it. The last month we had it before the MOT went I was driving it like a hire car. Still no issues at all.

cars like taxis or that sit on the Mway all day long will pull mega miles, certainly before the engine gives up. cruising on the Mway on a hot engine really causes close to no wear at all. highest i've been in was an E39 530d with over 600k miles on the clock (630k IIRC, but can't remember exactly) and was still going strong, needed a new turbo after about 400k and new suspension but that was it. it was a very late E39 and doing about 100k miles per year (was an 03 plate i believe). the owner said they wanted 1 million miles from it. that was about 9 months ago i saw that i think and i've heard it's still going strong smile
