My BOSCH window winder motor is a little tired! (Not enough ummph)

1. Are the plastic plugs in the top (see pics) to facilitate lubrication of the internal armature? If so, what lubrication. Ambersil AGL 1 perhaps.

I can alternatively remove the armature cover (two bolts)and withdraw the armature complete. There is a strong magnetic force.
2. Am I likely to loose some of this magnetism by separating the two?

3. Can the armature be serviced to regain its performance? Thanks everybody.

Winder works a little better with Johnsons Baby powder and silicon spray lubrication in the forward window track, precleaned with a tooth brush.

Another question
4. One window sometimes sticks at the top or the bottom. There must be a mechanism that does this at the end of its travel. Where is it. Can sometimes be unstuck by slamming the door and wiggeling the window. Advice appreciated. Thanks.

Inside if taken apart are filler with hmp grease. in my opinion change the motor and runner it an easy job & not to expensive,,

Hi there,

The motor you are looking for can be found in any old Ford Orion which has power windows.
(Sierra may be the same, worth a look).

I had the same problem and sourced one from a breakers for £10.

Thanks Stuart and Alister. WD40 and or Ambersil AGL 1 may help. Ambersil quote "Restores electrical resistance values by reducing current loss" "Improves dielectric performance, reduces corosion etc See Bearingboys. There are also other products out there.

Halfords have an electric contact cleaner. WD 40 listed primarily for moisture dispersal.

Received from an electrical engineer with a degree in physics. "In many permanent magnet motors, simple disassembly and reassembly even if you do it 100% right will result in the magnetic field being weaker than before. Paradoxically, the motor will spin faster than it did previously. This can lead to alarming results, for example, if the motor is part of your grandmother's wheel chair". The jury is still out. Has the TVR window motor got a permanent motor? If it spins faster will it be weaker or does it depend on how heavy is the load (grandma,s weight) Thanks yellowgriff.

Are we sure this is the right window mechanism? Because I have taken mine out tonight and it looks nothing like that one !

The one on Ebay looks very similar but I have yet to take mine out to make a proper check. Mine although slow (perhaps that is how they are!) is still working satis, just about. I improved the working of the passenger side one by trickeling some oil down the forward end of the track which is covered with some kind of foam and also oiled as best I could the the rear end. I would probably do a better job if I had taken it out like yours.
Perhaps a good clean and lubrication will save having to pay the £80.
Let us all know how you get on. Could save us a lorra lolly.

The motor may look the same, but the mechanism is not right at all
