Seeing as there are so many new HP touchpad owners on here I thought rather than ask questions in the other purchasing thread it might be easier for people to post about their HP Touchpad here.

So what useful apps, tips and software do people recommend?

Any cool stuff people have discovered on their HP, then please post here.

Firstly update it using the System Update tool in the Settings window, mine ran a lot quicker once it had installed the latest OS. The link above is then very useful for tweaking it further, I only had a quick play with mine last night but it feels a lot snappier and responsive having done all that.

I got my 32 gig on Monday night from my mate at CPW, I bought a cover at the same time because they only had a couple in stock and i thought it would be tricky to get accessories after the pads all sell out.

I got the last touch dock in Argos today, no pads left but one dock at £35 so I went in to get it.

The HP update came through automatically today and I let it do it's thing, seems to be a very smooth and well thought out machine. I was in the market for an Asus Transformer until this came along. To tell the truth as I was buying it I was thinking of selling it on for a little bit more to go towards the Asus but now I am keeping it and forgetting the other pads for a long time.

I am just sat here loading a few CDs on it so I can have music in my garage when I have the pad with me.

The only trouble I have had was figuring out the charger, mine had a foldy two pin thing on the round usb adapter and I could not work out how to fit the UK plug. Once I had taken off the plastic wrapper I saw the join and worked out you twist the foldy plug off and twist the UK one on !

I still want a Keyboard, I cannot find one anywhere though.

No doubt they'll be on Ebay for full price.

I wonder if they manufactured more accessories than tablets or vice versa?

Hey, do you want to come over to the other thread to point and laugh for a bit?

Okay, one question that guide doesn't address. Once you've finished doing all that, do you turn Developer Mode off or what?

anyone else finding the default web browser a bit limiting? The main thing is the lack of any tabbed browsing, but you also can't set a default homepage which I find annoying, as I like to land on google by default. Ive now resorted to replacing the quick launch web app shortcut with a url shortcut which takes me to google, but the icon is a non descript white box so not immediately obvious to another user what it is, and it looks a bit pants!

I found I had a side bar that i could put frequently vivisted sites on, I made Google the top one and if I want to go there to look stuff up I just click it. If its PH then there is now a bookmark for that.

I have been leaving PH on all the time and just leaving it as a tab on the main page along with a weather/clock app, a map page, media player and my email. i just slip side to side into what I want, not unlike my Android phone.

leave it on otherwise you presumably can't install anything from the prepare app, all dev mode does is allow unsigned apps to be installed, whether its on or not its not running in any special admin mode or affecting any other functionality AFAIK.

top tip - offload it now through PH classifieds, they are crap, radioactive, and have trojan horses that will kill your networks.

PH Classifieds. Now.
When all was said and done the survivors of the Greeks Equine trickery had a bloody great free wooden horse to play with once all the fuss had died down.

Cheers.

So what's this next must have item, the Pre 3, has that offer been gone? I don't even know what the Pre 3 is but again, I feel like I must have one.

LOL don't think the Pre3 price drop has begun yet but if its anything like the Pre2 we got issued at work its nothing to get excited about tbh, unless you don't already have an Android or IOS type smartphone and are looking for the cheapest way to get into smartphone ownership

Bonus with the Pre3 is that is has the same touch tech the Touchpad has meaning you can move contacts and music etc from phone to pad or vice-versa by simply touching them together.
