Hope you can help me in deciding a choice for my next car. Guess this is the right part of the forum?
I have looked around for Italian cars and fancy a alfa romeo 159 diesel, the 2.4 200bhp seems the best car and engine as I need a relative amount of fuel economy as I travel 500 miles in a week to work and still need the option of four seats. One week out of four as I work shift but can see that a diesel helps me also when I take the car to Italy for my holidays.
I would like the handling that Alfa seem to have and performance. I also own a motorbike and Eunos Roadster so want the car to have a reasonable amount of performance space and economy.
Any suggestions?

Get a 156 v6 then, the fuel econmy is.. relative.. especially when compared to, ooh, a tank.

The 2.4 JTDM provided good economy in the 156 but the 159 and 2.4 combination works out to around a 34mpg mile average from memory. Have heard that people have got nearer 40mpg with the DPF removed and a remap.

Still think the 2.4 is a great unit but expectations of economy will dissapoint if left standard.

Thanks for your help. I heard the 1.9 diesels are not good engines and have many issues from honets john website. I was hoping that the 2.4 with 200bhp would be fun to drive. i do not mind remapping.
i was hoping to use biodiesel to help with cost or was thinking i should buy another italian set of wheels
