My car, a BMW e39 Touring on a '97 plate) has failed its MOT on, amongst other things, the failure of the Driver's side Zenon lighting pack.

Apparently no one makes an after market replacement and BMW are quoting £270 for the unit and an additional £140 for the bulb!!!

The garage undertaking the MOT have sourced a replacement bulb (£50) but they don't know where to the get the lighting module from other than the robbing gits at BMW.

The pack is an aluminium rectangular box measuring approximately 110mm high x 40mm wide x 30mm deep and is connected by a wire to a fancy looking bulb holder which is made from black colured plastic.

On the back of the unit I found the following information:
GDL 12v Hella
63/12-8
373 165/166
KW JFS
120 373 10
HW / SW

Does anyone on here know where I can get a replacement lighting module from which won't bust the bank?

PLEASE HELP!!!!

Its a standard Hella ballast pack thought the 97 had the larger one that fixed direct to the light. HIDS4U will have bulb and ballast for a lot less. And £50 for one bulb is taking the piss. Will probably only be the bulb gone anyway, try that first.

Thanks for the reply.

My unit doesn't look like the one shown in your picture and the bulb holder is bigger and all black not red. Any thoughts....?
