At what interval do you service your cars? Do you follow the schedule by mileage or do it at the same time every year?

Just had a look at my service book. I last took my car to be serviced last November (my first since I bought the car so I did it when scheduled) and I've noticed that I've only done 3000 miles since then. laugh Talk about minimal use.

I'm presuming that the frequent short journeys are causing more wear and tear so I'll get everything serviced every year regardless. I think I walk more than 3000 miles per year though. hehe

I change oil and filer every 3k/ one year as I find that's about when it starts to go a bit dark. I change coolant every 2-3 years. Brake fluid about the same.
Other stuff I do as I see fit. I think it's probably a little OTT, but I take pride in that, and I fully expect my engines to last a long time, with moderate to high abuse. They range from 12 to 23 years and 89 to 210k, and all are in very good health I think.

I presume that I should be doing an oil change at least every 12 months regardless of how many miles that I do (obviously more frequently if doing mega miles)?

Generally intervals are miles and time, i.e. mines 10,000 miles or 1 year. So you should which ever comes first. Doing about 16,000 miles PA at the moment so getting it done every 8/9 months.
