I recently swapped my Z4MC for a new E92 M3. I really enjoyed the Z4 but after 4 years it was time to move on.

So after about 1600 miles and the first service(!) here is what I think of the M3.

On arrival at the dealership I was chuffed to bits with the car. It was not prepared perfectly (http://www.offyourmarks.com/ took care of that) but the Mineral White looked great in the sun and my concern over choosing the 18inch wheels was forgotten.

We had a little glitch - a tiny mark on the wing and also a huge panel gap between that wing and the bonnet. Both minor issues and sorted 95% to my satisfaction.

The drive home was cautious and sedate. I found all the gadgets and gimmicks a little distracting. A recurring issue!

Things I like: noise, power, ride, handling, entertainment gadgets, DCT and Electronic Damper Control, colour and feel good factor.

Things I don't like: 17mpg, being distracted by the gadgets, being stopped by Police.

As long as the fuel bills do not cripple me I think I will be happy with this car :-) and it should stay looking great thanks to http://www.paintshield.co.uk/ having taken care of the paint protection film.

Have you owned the previous M3 as I would curious in the difference

I had a 53 plated convertible from new for a year and sold on as the 3 series was getting a facelift

I have a M5 touring now and thats a machine!

Not owned but driven a fair amount.

The E92 over the E46.

Bigger more mature, thirstier, heavier. But still fun and very capable. And if you think the E46 sounded good!

On a seperate note - really pleased with the Paintshield fit. Perfect job - all but invisible when it was finished ...

I had the paintshield applied when I before I took delivery of mine. 37,000 miles later and the paintwork looks like it has only done a couple of thousand miles! Well worth it.

I have an E92 as well. I also have a young family. It's the best all round family carsmile. The steering has two settings OP. Set up the MDM and hit that magic button on the s/wheel, when you want to have some real fun.
