Spanners ............?
Discussion
I use Draper Expert spanners on my potato harvester, they were quite cheap, but they fit really well and even though they have had some abuse have not bent or broke, they did well in a test I saw in a car mag, ie the bend before they snap.
If you want a posher set, Teng stuff is good.
The Tool Police will be along shortly to tell you that if you have anything less than the best Snap-On can offer you are a homo.

Halfords Pro if you want VFM.
Lifetime warranty
Ignore snap-on fanboys, they are only worth the outlay if you are in the trade.
If you are a mere mortal, then Halfords work out better as you can get something replaced 7 days a week at a store and not wait for the truck to come once a week.
Also ignore people that say the ratchets from Halfords are not included in the warranty, they are. Your best bet is to get some nicer ratchets anyway from Snap-on or Wera etc, as they are what you are going to use most and its worth parting with money to buy 3

Thanks all,
I looked at Snap-On and they don,t do A/F spanners (?) , which I find hard to believe , but I could'nt find them... ??
I went to Halfords for their Professional Range , and again , no A/F's what so ever.. !!
Maybe its being so far North ???
I even had a look on Fleabay , with no success...
Thanks for the comments , though ..
Sam.

snap on and also Mac tools do AF spanners
Draper do AF spanners in the expert range which have a lifetime warranty. The Halfords pro range are exactly the same spanners as Draper expert. The reason for this is that Draper are the only U.K. tool company to have a Q.A department and they batch test everything. All 8000 lines in their range...

AF is an imperial size but does refer to "across flats", usually in fractions of an inch. The alternatives were measured across the sticky out bits, for example.
TBH it's rare that with imperial-sized nuts and bolts you can't find a metric that will fit anyway.
Ah ok! Good to know.TBH it's rare that with imperial-sized nuts and bolts you can't find a metric that will fit anyway.
With ref to the OP, look on eBay, if it's not available now then someone is selling a used set or something they've left in the garage unused for 10 years.

I'm an aircraft engineer by trade and we use AF not metric so I can assure you that Snap-on do sell AF. Although my spanner set is Draper Expert which are a good quality set, certainly no worse then Snap-On at a fraction of the price.I looked at Snap-On and they don,t do A/F spanners (?) , which I find hard to believe , but I could'nt find them... ??
