For the little one's birthday, she's getting a dvd player for the car, so I'm Looking for some suggestions as to which to go for etc. Probably upto £150

Also, I'm not keen on the velcro round the headrest, but my Volvo S40 headrests don't allow for brackets to be fitted to them. Is there any other way of mounting them.

Thanks folks

We have a double screen set which we just bought from Tesco for £80-odd. I don't know how old your little one is, but ours are 18 months and 3; we've had it replaced three times under warranty. I don't think it's product quality related, the boys (more so when they were smaller) just kept doing things like poking the lens, snapping the jacks off in the ports, etc.

Make sure you get a good warranty hehe
Otherwise it's been absolutely fine.

Buy yourself an iPad and lend it to her when in the car. Sorted.

not seen or heard of any other way to attach them other than with Velcro. it can deform your head rests if you leave it on all the time. but they are a god send for me. i have a 5 year old autistic son,and these keep him happy on long trips. i have twin screens with a remote. the wires can be a bit unsightly, dangling from one screen to the other. got mine from toys r us for £90 six months ago. don't go spending lots on them cos crayons, jaffa cakes, fingers get poked, stuffed inside them. and if the shop sees a half eaten jaffa smeared over the laser. me thinks they wont offer you a replacement. buy cheep so you car replace when they break them smile

We got these from play http://www.nextbase.co.uk/products/SDV47AM.html , when they were for sale at £99.99. Bargain. Very well made and slide onto a mount that does velcro to the headrest. For there newer models they do Stanchion mounts which you may prefer http://www.nextbase.co.uk/products/Stanchion-Mount...

second hand iPad - definitely the way to go here! much much more versatile in every way. Move it between cars and the house, use it on flights etc.

Completely solid state - put it in a case and you could drop it all day long. my kids one is naked with no case and he has dropped it loads of times, a few scratches and thats it.

Search ebay for car roof mounted dvd player. There are loads available, which would offer an alternative to headrest mounted.

She loves it, has done since she was 2. Actually it currently has a cracked screen, but to be fair that's because I stepped on it.
