What special classic car would you buy for £40,000 - £60,000
Discussion
What springs to mind in this budget range are the obvious heroes. Big Healeys, E-types and other Jaguars and maybe a couple of starter Maseratis.
They don’t quite float my boat, and I was hoping for some rather more eclectic suggestions? Preferably something built in smaller numbers with a light, beautiful body (preferably a well know coach builer).
I have just come across a wonderful looking AC 428 Frua Cabriolet, but that is rather higher than the budget.
No boundaries with reference to type of car: sports, coupes, cabriolets, GTs, etc all welcome!
Only criteria is that last date of design must be 1979.
p.s. any suggestions with good websites to cruise along, or dealer to visit are welcome!

You could get a very nice Lotus Cortina for that sort of money. Not the most beautiful coachwork but it would be a minter, maybe even have a bit of competition history and could be eligible for historic events like the Revival. But I'm just saying that because I really want one.
Or how about and Alfa Giulia GTA? Not sure how much these change hands for but they look fantastic.

I'd suggest that you keep an eye on the classic car auction website and see if anything unusual catches your eye. They don’t quite float my boat, and I was hoping for some rather more eclectic suggestions? Spotted this recently and thought it looked both lovely and sensibly priced. Although anything outside my budget could be sensibly priced in theory; I'm not buying!

You know those 190s have rocketed in price recently, I guess it's the effect of the 300s being outof most people's range now. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C233519
