Cheap classic car to get through the winter ?
Discussion
Right, I just sold an XJR which I had on a classic car policy. Phoned them to cancel and they told me that there aren't any refunds on classic policies. So he told me I might as well keep the policy open until it expires in April next year.
The way I see it is i've got free insurance until next year !!
I have a tracked prepared MX5 which I could use though out the winter (don't drive that much) but what cheapish car (£1500) that would qualify as a classic could I get to get me through the winter months ?
Thought about another MX5, maybe an MR2 ? Interesting and fun and cheap to fiddle with if I have to are the criteria.

Yes, good choice, lovely engine, whip the cat out if is is afflicted with one and have some full on Walter Rohrl soundtrack, I did on a 2.0 Audi 100, some most innapropriate noises coming from my old man type bargeand it made it a lot more responsive, honestly just get it and a decent exhaust system, not that fast but will seem it.

Is the same policy transferable to a new vehicle? I've never heard of that before. It's also not legal to have an insurance policy for a car which you no longer own.The way I see it is i've got free insurance until next year !!

Rover 213S. Handles snow better than a lot of numbties in wide tired four by fours.
Classic insurance, Honda reliability and best of all if you get one I won't be the only Piston Head who has one.
And he can hold up traffic like a dick too, I suppose?

Really? I thought that was pretty standard on mainstream policies. I've certainly done it before when I've changed cars mid-way through the policy. The insurance company just takes or refunds a certain amount to reflect the difference in risk for the remainder of the policy.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
