'Great cars' which you don't think are, erm.... great...
Discussion
For me, the Jaguar E-type. Don't know why, it just doesn't really do anything for me. I think it should but I can't find the attraction.
With it's 50th year being celebrated at all this years big car events and in all the car magazines, I guess it's a really well loved car.
Does anybody else share this opinion about the E-type or indeed any other 'great' car?

I agree on the E-type. Just does nothing for me.

The Audi R8 or indeed any quick Audi
The only Audis I'd actually want to own is the A2 or the A8
you've clearly not driven an r8 then. The only Audis I'd actually want to own is the A2 or the A8
In response to the OP....the current m3 leaves me cold ,the 2 I have driven both had steering that was so remote I felt completley disconnected from the road.
it's old escorts for me... i know that there are really good and fun etc... but they are so ubiquitous that it's really annoying. irrational and a bit snobby i know, but i wish some of the more unusual cars of yesteryear were revered more.
every man and his dog seem to have a mk1 or mk2, just makes me yawn a bit.

I also dont see what all the fuss is about the e type jag.Ok it was a bit before my time but there are many cars from that era that i think are fantastic but to me the e type just looks wrong and dare i say ugly.
Also IIRC top gear sent one around the track along with an AM DB5 and i seem to remember they were both dusted by the 'reasonably priced car'.!

I've only driven one E-Type (was originally a 4.2 but was restored with a 3.8) and it was a great occasion. I was quite surprised by the performance considering the age and sheer size of the thing.
Ugly beast though. The soft top is nice but the way the bonnet meets the far too vertical windscreen is just plain wrong.
When Enzo Ferrari called it "The most beautiful car ever made", I bet you he was talking about the convertible.
