Hi:

I'm picking up a new car and was going to pay cash for it.

Dealer has told me that there is a contribution of £2500 paid by their finance company and that if I take it, and pay in full after three months I will be ahead (which I probably will be). He said after three months they can't withdraw the incentive.

There is nothing in the smallprint about any contribution at all or time limits, so wondered if anyone could assist

Best wishes
James

We did the same with the wife's Astra. IIRC, we only made the first payment then settled up.

He seemed to think that after three they couldn't legally come after you for the contribution.

Tried to by a VW with my Credit card, a no no apparently. Took their Credit agreement got extra couple of hundred off from VW Finance and was able to pay off in full with no penalties?

Crazy

eta, they didn't like cash or cheques either, but I think Switch was fine.

My Dad did this with his Zafira. Saved him about a grand I think!

The reason that they will take debit cards but not credit cards is a) the fee on credit cards is quite big and a % and b) the transaction could be reversed on a credit card but not on a debit card.

Once bought a car for £21k using a debit card! Was quite scarey!
