My pre-cat ignition module is knackered so I have a new one ready to fit. New one has push fit connector so I have to cut the exisiting spade connectors off and wire up the new connector. The instructions say to put the '-' coil wire to terminal 3 and the '+' coil wire to terminal 1 on the new connector. Terminal 2 remains unused. No problem with that so far. However my old one has a second wire (with plain white sheath) connected to the same spade connector as the one comming from the coil '-' terminal. Does anyone know what this wire is for? I presume I just join both wires to the third terminal on the new connector?

If you don't get the answer soon, I'll have a look tonight at mine as it was replaced recently.

That sounds about right.
After I changed plugs, leads, shrouds, fuel filter and coil, Peninsula reckoned the ignition amp was causing the problem on my car (pulling up at about 3000 revs like rev limiter kicking in). Put the new one in last night and reset ECU but it didnt make any difference. £90 wasted, bollox. Also just discovered that Lucas do them for the half the price of TVR too.

I have noticed that since installing the new module the rev needle now occilates all the time. The engine is not hunting, its just the needle swings from side to side while displaying the correct revs (if you get what I mean). Hmmmmmmmm. Any ideas why?

This is starting to cost quite a bit in parts now. I would have taken it to Peninsula first off but they are booked up until next month.
