I knew it wouldn't be long until this happened.. "Had a heart bypass 6 years ago".. And?
We all paid for the road, we all keep it maintained with the road tax..
"“They are brainless, mindless thugs who are clearly organising this kind of activity. It’s nearly always late at night, and a neighbour of ours said he could hear them from a mile away.”
According to Mr Broadhurst, who can see the drivers from his bedroom window and has reported several licence plates to the police, the drivers are using the south slip road from the tunnel as a track, and performing burn-outs and hand-brake turns around the new roundabout at Hazel Grove, near the Royal Junior School.
The 66-year-old, who underwent a triple heart bypass six years ago, added that when neighbours had approached them, they were subjected to verbal abuse from the drivers.
Surrey Police confirmed that complaints had been received regarding dangerous driving at the Hazel Grove roundabout, where neighbours had reported “cars driven at speed, cars doing ‘donuts’ and swerving around roundabouts”."
So I guess we're all mindless thugs, and apparently swerving around the roundabouts (Surely thats the point in ROUNDabouts, you do usually have to go around them..)

Good post Jonny.
I suppose no drifting around the roundabouts then ......

Nothing to stop us using the tunnel "to get from one side of a hill to another" at any time we want.
Remember this as you plant your right foot to the firewall chaps !

Actually quite dissapointed the car clubs as a whole can ONLY be heard from a measley mile away ...... MUST TRY HARDER

They don't like late nights ..... maybe early mornings would be better for the diary ?
Joking aside, I can see where they are coming from but hey it'll become less frequent but it will never stop no matter what anyone does.
I still prefer London Tunnels though

To be fair, when we did a tunnel run last weekend I was surprised at how many tyre marks and bits of rubber there were all over those roundabouts. I think some people have been taking the p1ss and ruining it for the rest of us. It doesn't take a lot of brain power to realise that the fun should be had in the tunnel and not on those roundabouts as that will obviously lead to complaints and therefore either heavier police presence, cameras, reduced speed limits or more likely all of these.

Too right, it's bloody idiotic behaviour. Blipping the throttle whilst in the tunnel isn't going to annoy anyone for obvious reasons, but acting like a t
t outside is just antisocial.
What can they do about noisy cars going through the tunnel though?
t outside is just antisocial.Yes the drifting is obviously stupid, and you can guess the kind that'd do that.

But in the relative sense of the word aslong as the car is legal and you are within in the speed limit (aswell as not going to slow) there is no written law that says the Police can stop you using that stretch of public road. Sure they can pull you over for spot checks but if you're cars is legit there's no legit reason why they can enforce any legal action or a fine.
Although slowing down to below half the speed limit and speeding upto National erratically a few times in a row or singly 'could' warrant dangerous driving or similar offence in some enforcers eyes.
Sensible bunch on here so I don't think any will come un-stuck.
As I've said before itsthe minority spoiling it for the majority. We'renot out to get those whose drive sensible and have consideration for others, it those that think that they can use the public road as a racetrack that are the ones that have caused this upset. As far as I'm aware there were no complaints when the PH run took place, but late night drifting around roundabouts right next to peoples homes is never going to go down well the same for the burnouts in the tunnel.
And just for Mr B's interest there is a big grey camera on a huge pole at the Hazel Grove roundabouts!!!! ;D

If you're going to rant, at least get your facts right.
Road tax has never paid for the building and upkeep of the road network, it's why it was abolished by Winston Churchill and why we now pay VED which is just another tax.
Therefore you have no more rights than any other tax payer
So where does Road Tax go? Or the fuel tax?Road tax has never paid for the building and upkeep of the road network, it's why it was abolished by Winston Churchill and why we now pay VED which is just another tax.

I don't have any more rights no, but its a public road which we can all use.
By virtue of it being a Public Road you have the right of free passage on that road.
Unless circunstances dictate otherwise...
Whatever tax we pay part of which contributes to the building and upkeep of the mentioned
public assett..
Abuse it like the drifting on the roundabout and similiar actions mentioned
and highlighted by our informants from the "Other Side" may result in that freedom of passage being withdraw except maybe on foot, cycle or as a passenger....
As for the old duffer who has been keeping watch from his humble abode. he may have had a bypass
operation (quite what that has got to de with anything I dont know) but there is nothing wrong with his eyesight which makes him able to read index plates at speed and going round in such agressive manner however does not notice the camera.
As per normal a bit of harmless fun spoilt my a few "Mindless Organised Thugs" driving some chaved up ricer or over powered hot hatch with a 4" tail pipe...
Sadly I will miss my Sunday morning leg stretch and Little Chef breakfast as I will be in Telford
most likley nursing a hangover from the wedding reception dinner n dance (will pass on the latter)

I would have thought someone in the motor trade would have more insight.
1. It's not toad tax it's VED and has nothing to do with the roads

I'm in service, I don't need to know about VED, all I know is I get a bill from the DVLA each year that tells me to pay to use the roads or don't use them..1. It's not toad tax it's VED and has nothing to do with the roads

2.It is as you point out, a public road, not a playground, maybe you should go to legoland for the day
I'm too big for the rides

3. Local roads are maintained out of council tax, it's something your mummy and daddy pay.
That'll be the Council Tax that I pay on my house? Not my parents.swerni said:
Trust me I'm not against making some noise, that would be a touch hypocritical but there is a time and a place.
I do get bored though with the same old "i pay road tax, therefore..... " b
ks, it just shows complete ignorance
I just personally think as usual its those of us that enjoy driving/cars that get the blame again, mindless thugs, as we're better know as.I do get bored though with the same old "i pay road tax, therefore..... " b
ks, it just shows complete ignoranceHaving driven through it a couple of times through necessity/convenience I was shocked at the length of rubber 'burn out' marks in the tunnel, I didn't have reason to go round the roundabout so can't comment.
As Swerni very reasonably points out, don't be inconsiderate these people live there!
I have of course driven a little bit enthusiastically in a tunnel though for a short time and purely to hear the exhaust note but everything within reason; and in these cases every car club under the sun is joining the fray.

Can't be bothered with the formatting
But I get several of those nice letters a year but they still aren't road tax and they still don't pat for the roads
Am sure if you try you can squeeze on some of the rides.
Apologies I had you pegged as a teen, can't think why
As I said time and place, as long as we are doing nothing wrong then there is nothing the police and residents can do about it.
God forbid any of us might have louder than standard exhausts on their cars
Guess I must be getting too sensible in my old age
So does the VED just line the governments pockets? Surely the Council Tax isn't the only thing that funds the roads? (Genuinely interested!)

I am a teen, well.. 21. But do own a house, and so do pay council tax

I've gone through the tunnel plenty of times, give it some throttle in the tunnel obviously for the sound, but I do just coast around the roundabouts and back into the tunnel, so have respect for the home owners around there.
I guess we'll always be chucked in with the yoots and bazzers.
