Unexpected benefit of dash re-furb

We all know of the slightly unusual behavior of the charging process on the 2.9 V6. Dosent start charging until 2k rpm is reached,very common question from new owners.
Well much to my surprise GERALD has stopped doing that and starts charging as soon as the engine is started. And I think its down to some new warning lights fitted during the dask re-furb.
I had fitted new style warning lights which have replacable bulbs which can be pulled ot of their holders if they fail from the back of the dash rather that the originals which had to have the cover strip removed and removed via rgw front of the dash. I used Black Bezel Warning Lights (part no #WLSBKA for amber, #WLSBKB for blue etc) from Car Builder Solutions, must be slightly higher wattage than originals so slightly brighter as well. Useful unexpected improvement.

Very interesting Norman. I have also faced the issue of the stupid warning lights having to be removed from the front to deal with a duff bulb. I have also been looking at what Car Builder Solutions have to offer and there are some good choices there. I am not sure whether to replace the front panel or not, I have a new one available (TVR Car Parts can supply them). With the old warning lights they werent really bright enough to show properly through the front panel. You indicate that the new ones you have are brighter, do they therefore work much better with the front panel?

Yep brighter and easier to seeI removed the brittle plastic cresant because I could barely see the warning lights through it I cut some plastic and trimmed it in some eBay leather and poked the lights through making them easy to see and replace as necessary the only down side is there are no decals but you soon get to know which is which .
