Hi, new to this forum but looking for help setting up a 327 chevy engine. Its currently up and running in a car but returning somewhere between 5 and 8 miles to the gallon !!!!! I knew the consumption was going to be low but really expected something around 15 to 20 ?? Can anyone recommend a tuner who is familiar with american V8's, preferably in the tayside area if possible. Thanks for your help.

Thanks, I'll take a look first thing tomorrow. Could this be the cause of the excessive fuel consumption ? Am i right, expecting to get somewhere between 15 and 20 on a run ?? Thanks a lot for your help. Cheers Graeme

Yup will seriously affect it, when it happened on mine, I just couldnt get the carb to work right, and of course if this is the problem then the carb is scrap! I dont claim to be an expert but more than happy to help, unfortunately I'm away next week, but after that... You might want to have a word with Breakdown on here he has the same carb on his Cobra and has a garage business in North Berwick. shout Hugh get in here!
Alternatively Give me a shout and we can get together and talk through the the Edelbrock. If the problem is not as I described above we can do a lot with needles and spring to sort it out.

Had a look down the carbs past the butterflies but DOESNT look to me like the mixture screws have broken through. I re-gapped all the plugs at 35 thou ( all looked dry and light brown colour) set the static timing to approx 8 degrees before TDC then started the car..... started ok but when I tried to set the timing with a strobe the mark on the harmonic balancer was all over the place !!! I thought it would have shown as a distinct line but instead it showed as a blur about quarter inch accross ....

Will have a look at the site you suggested. Thanks
