Yet another what car thread.

Well my scirocco's engine has expired (the same day as i agreed a private sale on it) and I have reached a deal with vw for them to buy it off me due to the issues i have had with the car. This means i shall be looking for a daily driver to tide me over for 4-5 months max until my new car arrives.

I want it to basically be cheap, reliable and not likely to depreciate any more. Looking to spend maybe £800 max hopefully including a decent amount of tax/test

Main criteria - budget around £800
mpg around 35 average
insurance not really an issue
not a coupe/converitble (have a vx220 for that)
Decent amount of space
hatchback or maybe estate would be favoured (dog transport)

It would eb nice if its a PH kind of car but i guess at that money there wont be too much choice.

Any suggestions then?

Ford Mondeo Estate?

Could get either a mint mk2 or a tatty-high-mileage mk3 for that


Or of course, a BMW 3 Series touring (E36 at that price I'm guessing )
