The best RTS series ever made. I remember when I first got Shogun and was instantly hooked. There's a huge modding community and Rome is probably one of my favourite games.

Anybody else play these?

Yea, love Rome. Actually prefer the gameplay to Empire, which i find too complicated away from the battle gameplay. I've not played Shogun, but i've been told it's also excellent!

I love all the ones I've played, only Empire I haven't (played and loved Napoleon though).

Despite all the tricks I know, I am still quite bad at them! Just simply don't have it in me to micromanage, for most defensive battles I rely on formation, and just watching. Do not like attacking. This is why I seem to expand really slowly, terrible at laying siege - would rather them sally. I seem to get about ten years into any given game before I think fk it I've fked up again and start over as a different faction.

Still, been well and truly addicted for three or so years.

Here's how I organise my mods if anybody's interested.



Start with a clean install. Press ctrl, click on the clean install folder and drag it. It will create a new folder with all the files. Then simply rename to fit. Dead useful with huge mods like Roma Surrectum II which overwrite files.
