Running in my new engine, drove to Cardiff airport and back last night, 125mile round trip.

There's a Texaco/Co-op thereabouts, so I stopped to refuel and have a sarnie.

Eating my Sarnie near the car, notice a marked Police Astra parked in the forecourt, male & female officer inside the petrol station shop.

They come out, glance at the car, give me an obvious once over. She smiles. Think I worried he'd clocked the front show plate (i need as much air into the rads as poss.). They get into their vehicle. Result !

I finish the sarnie, get into the car, belt up.

They get out of their vehicle, one walks towards the front of my car, the other goes round the back. I'm thinking "oh, FFS !" (had an NIP in the post yesterday morning). Suddenly they turn on their heels, jump in their car and off they zoom, lights flashing...

Was i saved by an urgent call or just being paranoid ? Were they bored perhaps and just wanted to kill some time by putting the sts up me ?

It does sound a lot like a more important job came up.

yes I'd go with that. As you say probably bored, coming to have a chat and then got a call.

ETA is that another NIP on top of the 'Speed awreness course' you just did? If it is it sounds like you need a push bike not a faster TVR. hehe

yes - ANOTHER

none accumulated in the Tiv, all in the monster Merc GL SUV. It has 512ftlbs, so it doesn't take much foot pressure to creep into trouble.

thing is, I know there's a mobile camera there and although both my wife and i have been pinched at 57 in that 50, this time it was at 68 - there's no way I would do 70 through there, I'm really quite respectful of villages.

So i really don't know what happened there, but I'm not going to contest it....
