Sad day, reports of a fatal accident at York today
Discussion
Arriving at the track this morning saw flame and smoke from the top end, then the air ambulance. No more racing but really that's irrelevant compared to what happened. Thankfully this sort of thing is relatively rare, a very sombre and sad atmosphere at the track. Absolutely tragic and thoughts are with the family and friends.
Really sad loss of such a nice guy, we had the pleasure of chatting and racing with him at Dragstalgia earlier this year.
He was a young guy with a real passion for both his car and drag racing.
My thoughts and deepest sympathy go out to his family and loved ones, I believe some of whom were at the track at the time of the accident.

Very sad news, my thoughts are with the family, and also with everyone involved with PDRC, especially the Murty family.

This could cause loads of problems for York raceway.
Please take your ill-informed and misjudged comments somewhere else. May I suggest the comments page of the Daily Mail report?
Nice to see York put on a parade of honour with every car going up the strip, and lining them up on the start line and having everyone fire up. Shakey's minute of silence was all well and good, but it seems at odds with what drag racing's all about. For the record, if I ever have anything happen on the track, the last thing I'd want is a minute's silence. I'd rather be remembered with a huge cacklefest.

I with you on that one Tet, like this which was a minutes silence followed by a minutes noise.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9ZHMjdzw0w0

The people and the Drag Racing club at York Raceway are both very professional organizisations. There is no way Kasey would have been able to race his car without all the relevant saftey apperatus being in place, and that includes track conditions. These things happen in all sports, it's part of the risk we all take when competing. You can be sure Drag Racing in general will be looking very carefully at the circumstances of the incident. if any improvement should or even could be made, they will impliment changes to the cars or driver protection to eliminate the chance of it ever happening again, if that is possible, which I doubt. The main thing is, to have some thought, respect, and consideration for the people involved in this tragic incident. Need I say more.
