I've got a savings / mortgage / cash / pension / endowment and possibly tax situation which I don’t know what to do with (life was much easier when I only had enough money to live well enough and pay the mortgage!).

I need someone with an understanding of all of these areas and who is genuinely independent and isn’t going to try and sell me particular products that give them a kick back.

In the past I’ve found people who are willing to talk through the options without really recommending and IFAs who appear not to actually be independent.

I don’t know the job title of the person I am looking for. Is there a particular phrase or accreditation I should look for?

Thanks

You need an independent adviser who operates on a Fee Basis i.e. you agree what you will pay them prior to any work being undertaken.

Go see a few and see what they have to offer.

Think about how you are going to compare them, and I would suggest that this isn't purely on a cost basis.

Good luck!
