i need something like nitromors, but that works...

when did nitromors become so bloody weak? i've tried using it on 2 different things this weekend and it's hopeless. i appreciate some people don't have the wherewithall to refrain from drinking it but on balance i'm prepared to lose those specific members of society if it means i can strip paint a little more efficiently.
there must be something out there that still strips paint from metal without asking you to put a hardhat and hi-viz jacket on, surely?

What are you stripping? Used to send cast metal fireplaces to be dipped in hot caustic soda.there must be something out there that still strips paint from metal without asking you to put a hardhat and hi-viz jacket on, surely?
Sure, I was working in architectural antiques at the time.
Hot guns life paint, depends on how intricate the thing is.
When I last restored a mahogany mantle that had been pained very green many times, it was a case of taking it out, nitromors - pressure wash - repeat, but it still meant cocktails sticks to work the paint out of the crevices...
...but I'd check if anyone hot dips near you

Nitromors is actually very strong (ask my skin). It's fine for a single layer of paint but s
te on multi-layers unless you keep re-applying it. It tends to just soften the lower layer/s which makes it harder to scrape off.
Best results i've had is just use one of these...........

Much quicker but takes a bit of muscle. I've done a few cast iron mantle-pieces
and would never use Nitromors again.
PS. Dremel for the intricate bits.

nitromors has recently changed its formulation, due, i believe, to a europe wide ban on tri and or dichloromethane in paintstrippers.
the others will follow.
once you could strip some paint and creosote the wood. Seems we're no longer allowed to - probably in case we accidently drink it all and paint our eyes, but possibly because it may hurt a badger.
I'm becoming grumpy and constantly reminded of the police in catch 22 - "we have the power to do whatever you can't stop us form doing."
grr, revolution now. I want my effective paint preparations back.
And something with some lead in it - that would be nice....

Which is why i've been using this "soil fertilizer" to kill everything in my garden
Ammonium sulphate is banned as a weedkiller, but not as a fertilizer
