Hi guys,
Still looking into an MX5 based kit (Westfield, NMR or MEV).
Noticed MX5 Heaven provide donor packs for 1.6 or 1.8 including all parts and V5 etc.
Does anyone have any experience of buying these type of donor packs?

When I (hopefully) start my build I'll be restricted to a single garage and don't really want to have to have an MX5 on the front drive in pieces. I know it'll be more expensive this way was I won't recoup any of the money back on the sale of parts from the donor but quite like the idea of convenience.

Cheers

with the number being broken the spares aren't worth what they were a few months ago so it'll save you some time and hassle.

What with p and p charges these days of be tempted to get a donor car first, strip it of all the bits you know you need, scrap/sell the rest and then order the kit!

Better still would be to look around and see if anybody is doing a refurbished kit.

http://www.kitfit-parts.co.uk/ do kits for Cortina etc and are very good with all the chassis parts blasted and painted, new bushes, bearings, gaiters etc. Perhaps they are now including MX5 as it is becoming the donor of choice.

Whats in the kit though and what sort of warranty would you get. It can't be much more than 3 month warranty on used parts that are probably 15 years old !

Hi Chris, I bought the donor kit for my Westfield SDV from them when I built my car 3 years ago and was very happy with the service I received. It's not the cheepest option when compared to buying a running car and stripping it yourself, but it did save a lot of hastle as I was short on space and didn't have to worry about disposing of the shell. I'm aware of 2 other past Mazda SDV builders on the WSCC that have also got their donor parts from them also.

From memory (unless it's changed) they warrant the parts for 3 months from completion of the car, and yes everything I needed from the MX5 is included. They were also happy to delete some parts from the kit (to reduce the price) as I opted to buy certain parts new.

If you're interested my build and photos can be found at www.mx5westfield.co.uk

What do you need to build your kit ? I'm seriously considering breaking one with a good 1.8 engine/box, Torsen LSD, if I had a taker for the main parts.
