I see that some people think that the boxes are not the same, is this true?
Seems an odd thing for them to do as the LCI's went to the same block to simplify production.
I am having mine remapped next week regardless, but just curious...

I bought mine from auction last week, A May 2007 car, it was registered as a 2.5 car, but BMW confirm its a 3.0 LCI car, so someone must have filled in the V55 wrong at time of registration!!!

I love the car BTW smile

The 525d (400 nm) and 530d (500 or 520 nm) do indeed have different auto boxes. IIRC the 525d is rated at 440 nm max, while the 530/535d is rated at 650 nm.

So they only build a 40nm safety margin in the 525, and 150nm in the 530?

The reason for the apparently large margin on the 530d box is that it is the same box as the 535d. The 535d has 600nm as standard.

The 525d shares the same box as the 520d.
