Was a legend that chap.

A real good team Cinzano were - they parked up right where the people could stand, opened the engine hatches and fired up the engines every now and again for the people which I thought was spot on. They also chatted with all the crowds and people moored up there (us) too which was lovely.

I was pleased they won!

My ears rang for a short while after that - shame the sound doesn't really come across properly in the video!

This may be a noddy question, but where does all that water in the exhaust come from? Surely it's not sucked in through the induction and the cylinders?

Is it some sort of water cooling of the exhaust? There's plenty of the stuff around the boat to use, but what are the advantages?

I haven't got a photo that shows it overly well, but the headers and the exhaust are water cooled also.

Some boat engines (marinised) just pump the water from outside through the engine and out through the exhaust - not ideal for salt water flowing through the engine so you rinse it with fresh water.

Other engines use a heat exchanger and run a coolant system like a car but rather than using the air to cool the radiator it uses the external water supply - better as it protects the engine against rust and also from cold weather damage.

I thought they looked very very similar to an engine from a car manufacturer. This link confirmed it(as did a subsequent look on wikipedia.)

And once the sea water has passed through the cooler it is fed into the exhaust manifolds to keep the pipe cool as it runs through the boat.

The water is usually pumped by a Jabsco pump mounted on the motor. I'm curious why the port motor seemed to be pumping water, but not firing, hence no action from the rubber flaps. confused
