Just had a thought, we all know Pikey's Gippo's Travellers call them what you will have vehicles (mostly expensive ones too!), well how can they supply a permanent address to DVLA as we have to? as they don't have one?
so where is the V5 sent to then when they register/ re-register the vehicle?, also, how about their address on their Driving Licence then?, or are they all unlicenced, un taxed etc?, was just thinking really!, does anyone, bib for example have an answer to this?

Quote from DVLA website;
"If you change your postal address and/or name please complete the appropriate changes section on your registration document and return it to DVLA, the postal address can be found on the document".

Looks like they are forever sending all their docs back to DVLA then for updading! NOT!
cheers

I think they use mailing addresses on gypo sites and just give the plod the run around. Some of them probably have southern irish documents to and use false names.

Easy to use the time 'Pikey', & 'Gypo' hiding behind your Pseudo names. You'll find with a bit of homework that what you're talking about is mostly myth.

'Pikeys' really don't get away with shit. The Police are constantly on their back.

A bloke I know has just paid £150,000 tax bill. A worthy contribution to the state by anyones standards.

Easy to use words like 'Pikey', and 'Gypo'. I suppose you use words like P-ki, & N---er too do you?

I thought they all had the same name all be it Michael Oreiliy or something like that. This of course is not their real name but they have a different system I believe.

Precisely! Which is why I talk about the people who 'Hide' behind Pseudo names. The size of some of the companies of people who started out with little more than a Caravan is formidable, and you cetainly wouldn't want to be talking sh-t like that to their face!

Hi nev m, yes I do use words as you describe, but why not as we have freedom of expression in this Country (it says so in Magna Carta does it not?), I always say whatever I like, wherever I like! and if non indigenous people don't like it then tough sh*te!, also I do not use pseudonyms I always post as me, English, Patriotic and proud of the fact too, are you a B.Liar do gooder then as you seem to be to me?, you know the type, the ones that have ruined this great Country of ours for the sake of "Political correctness garbage", cant say this, cant say that etc, well I say whatever I like!, I am in the fortunate (unfortunate) position to have seen the work of the do gooding Labour Government from the 1960's to present day, first they banned Corporal punishment in schools, then in the home they banned smacking! "spare the rod and spoil the child" IT'S TRUE BTW!, I have seen the results develop, for chr***s sake even NATURE (Lions for example) CUFF the young if they go too far!
DO YOU EAT LENTILS BY ANY CHANCE?, do you wear sandels? and are you a veggie?
you obviosly like the idea then of being stabbed by all these undisciplined youths who hang around our once safe streets then?, ok fine!, cos I DO NOT!

i notice your real name isn't in your profile ???

why can't he say that to there face? is it because there violent?

i know someone who was in an accident with a "Pikey" and they even told my friend their name and the location of the "pikey" site.. what did the police do? nothing! because they aren't insured, the car(4x4 in this case) was probably stolen and it may not have even been his real name. oh and they all cover each others asses so theres about zero chance of ID'ing anyone

Pikey? Work?

I hardly class Pikey as a racist description. It's a generic term for people that travel around the country, bringing thier own crime wave with them. I wonder how many people have actualy had a good experience of RTF's, compared to the number of people that have suffered from thier lifestyle.

Well, I live and work in a village in Hertfordshire.

There are two "travellers" sites in the village. A number of paving companies operate from the site.

Every few weeks or so, the travellers are seen in brand new Mercs, Beemers, Audis etc, and then the cars move on. i.e sold amongst themselves to throw the DVLA and HP off the scent.

Kids driving lorries and cars etc.. have an accident and then they disappear into thin air.

So, in this instance, the travellers do not match the high standards shown by the upright citizens that Nev M seems to know.

Oh, and they use my address for all their correspondce with DVLA etc, so that's how I know. I also know lots of other people in the same road have had quite a few loans taken out in their names....probably to pay for the cars...or their £150,000 tax bills!!!

I have a very good friend who lives in a village in Northants. The 'Pikey' turned up and, as usual, a mini-crime-wave started. He reported that they were driving around in an old coach with the screen missing, fire-damage to the side, bald tyres and a collapsed rear spring. The response from the 'Bill' - Oh, we can't do anything about that as it's his home and to take it off the road would infringe his human rights.
However, my friend's human rights didn't seem to count for much as 3 of them later assaulted him and fractured his skull. The response of the 'Bill' - we'll try to catch them, but don't hold out too much hope.
Outside the law, right!

There are things the police could do if they wanted to. It's just a fact that most of the time, most of them don't want the hassle.

Yep had a big bust up with some fairground workers years ago (I was about 15) - they started it on purpose.

Police soon arrived as the event was being policed and it all got broken up. One of the lads with me got seriously hurt and he was only 14 at the time, these were guys in their 40's.

The police wouldn't take it further as they said the address' given would be false and it's too much hassle for them.

By this time one of the lads with us dad turned up (big bugger ex-copper, you wouldn't mess) he was pushing the police to do something about it but they wouldn't, again saying they'd never trace them. Funny how the event organisers can find them every year for the firework display (that's the event we were at).

The lads dad had made a few calls and some of his friends (many ex-collegues) turned up - hey he was a copper in the 70's. They told the police officers that if they're not going to do anything it's best that they leave so it can be sorted by them. The police wouldn't leave and even suggested arresting my mates dad and his friends if they didn't leave.

So it's one rule for us and another for them - Oh my mates dad left with his friends and returned later to sort things out!
