Hi all

I've been doing a lot of tinkering this weekend which included resetting the tick over idle speed. Re-fitting the standard back box cos the noise from the sports exhaust was doing my head in! & no its not for sale! 3M'd the exhaust heat shield in carbon cover. Inverted the Nitrons for easier adjustment and fit the HID's.

The HID kit I bought was about 3 years old and originally it was going on my ex's Honda Jazz. I was a little cautious after hearing a few night mare stories about dashes failing and various other issues. After a few emails with Shep1001 I thought 'sod it' lets give it ago. They're easy pieces of kit to fit and have done a few in the past on other cars (Audi/Westfield)

I did a basic wiring link up and the key to HID's or any new additional electrical item that needs a separate earth on any TVR plastic bath tub is a quality earth! I ended up splicing/soldering (covering in shrink wrap sheath) both earth cables from each of the ballasts together to run one earth lead down to the battery. It seems with all these aftermarket HID kits they are pretty plug & play with no cutting or changing connectors etc. It was as simple as that. The Tam was fired up the lights switched on and bob’s your tea pot… there was light. Once I knew everything was up and running I went about the job of installing the kit, bolting the ballasts to the back of the right inner wheel arch and running the live feeds and earth down the carbon fibre housing of the fan duct in front of the steering rack using cable ties, then continued the run of cable into the left inner wheel arch and picked up the power command box and bolted that along with the other ballast to the back of the arch. The earth & live were then ran down the outside of the chassis leg to pick up the battery.

All that was left to do was replace the wheel arch light covers and the inner wheel arch covers which hide any sign of the HID kit in the inner wheel arch. Job done. I ran the Tam out to Whitby (150 miles) with the lights on and have not suffered any detrimental effect with the dash etc so I guess I'm one of the lucky ones and I have to say they are far superior in performance to the standard 55w candles + they use considerably less juice and the temps are much lower. So all in all I'm very happy. All I’ve got to do is convert the bottom high beams now!
