Just got back from West London
M4 - M25 overheads stateing M3 closed Junc 2 - 3
use A30
Well thats pants as well
So the short cut through Egham, Virgina Water & Chobham
worked like a charm.
Going over M3 near Windlesham it was jammed solid.
Also gave Charlie a nice little tune on the way past Longcross

Hoping that i'll be able to get back into Bagshot down the A322 later with no issues, but it might require the Ascot, Sunningdale, Longcross, Windlesham "shortcut" again.

If it's a lorry fire then the carriageway will have to be resurfaced, that's why it will be closed for so long.
Why ?? most of the other roads around here are knackered, whats one more on the list. Was it really that bad that they can't come back at night and do it, rather than shut the road at rush hour ?Took me a bloody hour and half to do a 25min journey

Coming back from Staines on the back roads each day is turning into great little after work hoon, Especially when i drive alongside the M3 and look at the poor sods stuck there.

Have you seen tarmac after a fire? Would be dangerous to drive on at motorway speeds, so safer to fix it straight away. Would imagine it would cost less to do it at that time to (lighting, overtime etc)Took me a bloody hour and half to do a 25min journey

It was a mess tonight at 7pm around the M25. Yet another day I was happy I was on my bike! Although in 2 months time it will be back enduring all that in the car...

I know it's not a dig, I've got thick skin anyway!!!
It's not just the state of the Tarmac, it's what's melted into it as well. Unfortuantly it's cheaper for them to close the road and fix it than pay out all the compo for all the cars that would be damaged!!!
That stretch does seem to be cursed of late, bit like the A3 around Burpham.

Yeah thing is every man, his dog, wife, granparents, kids, cat, pet mouse, tortoise do the same.A30 off at Egham, then go through Egham right and left towards Viginia Water, then Loncross
( Dont forget to abuse Charles with the horns )then either Windlesham or Chobham and Red Road home...
Best thing I did was moving to yard in Bagshot than the old council depot in Camberley.
The A331 & Meadows was always pants during evening looney hour... even worse when M3 screwed.
Still closed when I came over M3 on the A332 just now, unless everyone is driving on there
without lights....
