As said before - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a... - many V8Ss were registered as 290Ss. It's hard to believe that only two years after production ceased (1995) there were only 22 on the road.

Are those figures showing the number that are on the road, or the number registered?

I bet there are plenty of cars in roadworthy condition which are SORNed through the winter so the annual figures could be artificially low if they are taken during winter.

Wow, if those really are the figures, where have they all gone? The numbers REGISTERED will now presumably include all those off the road but on a SORN so there could be quite a few of the numbers which arent in use so the number of active S's is even less! I would find it very sad if 2/3rds of all S1's have disappeared in the last 10 years or so. Mind you there were only, I think, 3 or 4 S1's at SCH this year (mine included).

Should we add licensed and SORN figures together to give a representation of the vehicle parc? It would make sense - particularly on S1 where it is clear that some cars are taxed for the summer months. I agree that you should take a pinch of salt to the V8/V6 split! We could look at these figures, the production figures (these also seem to have some poetic licence) and our pistonheads forum membership. It would be intersting to see what is called the death curve(the number of scrappages/ permanent exports) related to the overall parc(parc is the number of vehicles out there). I used to play with this sort of data in a previous life - maybe I'll do some sums tomorrow.

Bear in mind that these figures are not very accurate. Other owner groups on PH have compared the howmanyleft numbers with what they know about their cars and have found it misleading. It's based on the DVLA data and relies on all the vehicles being registered correctly.

Also, the S1/S2/S3 split does not align with the 280S/290S figures as TVR only changed the designation to 290S after the S2 had been in production for quite a while.

My S3 is registered as a 290S Tasmin? So where would this appear, just shows sttistics can be used to prove or disprove anything and are only as good as the data input

You also have to factor in a large number of cars in the DVLA data that are registed as TVRs but classed as 'unknown' as the 'model' field on their V5 is blank.

All these figures are a 'best guess' at most.
