Anybody know where can I get a similar ali dash to this?

ie to fit the earlier interior ... have given up thinking about fitting the updated one as I am no auto electrician ... following the mantra if it ain't broke etc

Hope this link works, still having trouble

I think you meant this:-

Tip: in Fotango, you have to right click the image, select properties and copy the URL to the clipboard. Then, in PH, type

<IMG src="http://whatever it was/">

Ted: time to sort that pic tag once and for all?

Edit: And, oh look, here's a way to avoid the nasty fotango url at the bottom

Edit #2: Oh, you got it working just as I submitted this.

Thanks Marshy, you're toooo clever by half with these gizzmo's I went to fotango and clicked on the 'Get URL for this pic' link. Then pasted that into my post between [pic] and "> still very

In fact can you tell me why you seem to have extra warning lights between speedo and rev counter than me – not just a 5.0 thang? – just seem to remember your interior from a shot you posted and noticed it was different to mine?!

Thanks

Mike

I have exactly that configuration (stainless + yellow dials) in my Griff.
I can post a pic if you want to see how it would look for you.

Mikey,

I think your dash is a slightly older design than mine. I don't think I have any more warning lights, they're just arranged differently. I have lights for: handbrake, brake fliud, main beam, MIL, ice, and indicators L&R.

Pete,

Pike & Eel in Chesterton, down Water Lane. Shit food, apalling service, great location. Just like most other pubs with great location in this area, they rely on that to get the punters in, rather than having any other redeeming features.

any more pics welcomed. I think I know where to get an ali dash that fits the updated heater/light controls etc but its the earlier one like in the pic that I'm after.

Am I right in assuming there are TWO different types of finish for the ali dash? One that has some sort of machined 'circles' on it and then 'the other one' .

Anyone got a close up of both types?

Hi Mikey

I've seen three types of dash:

1. Spun Aluminium (circles as on the end of line Griffs)
2. Stainless Steel (what I have - looks like Hi-Fi brushed ally)
3. Steel basket weave thing

In my opinion the spun ally is a little distracting - the road usually requires *most* of my attention. However I've had no reflection/glare problems with mine (#2) and think its a much more modern look than walnut. The basket weave one I've only seen in black and the texture gave it a nice look.

Looky here :

Marco, thanks for the info and pics – I think it's no. 3 I'm after! But I've only seen it for the updated interior (Chim-Post 97ish).

Yours looks lovely – much more up to date as you say – my walnut finish is a bit battered here and there and as I have most of the Leven accessories too, I'm looking to go the whole hog!

Maybe I'll speak to the factory ...

Any more info from anyone most welcome.

Blimey - mines so old (1993 K) that even the heater controls are black plastic !!!!

I wanted to get some alloy rings for round the clocks (these being black plastic too) but Leven / Zertec don't seem to do them. I guess most Chims have alloy rings as standard.

Alloy dash above looks superb though but probably worth more than my car !!!

You could always use some of Mel's stainless steel kitchen tiles and a bit of copydex - gold checks would look quite fetching.

Much better than that nasty old wood stuff. Yuk.

Mine was fitted by the factory at build but I have heard that David Batty @ The garage may have some in stock. Number is 01483 811995.

The super helpful Neil at Peninsula (01884 35341) would be another good bet.

The coloured dials were also a factory option and might present more of a challenge!

I think they were both around £350 options when my car was built in '98.

"for all those thinking of rejigging the dash, I'd recommend taking a look at www.greengauges.com
They're using Caerbont Automotive stuff which are the guages fitted as standard to Chim, and I would guess also to the Griff and possibly the S?? Lots of different types of bezel shape and colour, different backgrounds, needles, etc. Looks like a really good starting point for a DIY project."

Found this on Blue lights in the chimaera forum,
Hope it helps for the guages.

Well done Marco on finally getting a Banana,I personally really think thats the best colour, well i would wouldnt i.

I,ve just ordered some carbon fibre from a company called www.fibre-lyte.co.uk.
It cost £90 for a piece 900mm x 300mm, compared to around £300 to have a ready made one i thought i would have go at doing it myself.

Mind you a do like that 'ali one' hhhhmmmm.

Did you check this link - I can only get to the fotango log in page. Think you may have to put the pic in the public bit of the fotango site. Looking forward to seeing it ... !
