Hi,

I've posted this on the M-power section already, but thought I would post it here too...

I'm looking for some advice in respect of an issue that has cropped up with my M5 in the last couple of days. Basically, when using anything other than the very lightest of acceleration, the car sometimes becomes hesitant and juddery, as if the power is being sharply reigned in.

When this happened first time round, I thought it was fuel related - I'd had to put a tenner's worth of 95 RON to get home, but I've subsequently topped up with 99 RON and the issue remains.

Three things to mention:

1) As hinted above, if I'm very very gentle with it, I can take it to the red-line without any noticeable symptoms; also there are no problems when revving in neutral.

2) Although there was no flickering of the traction control light when the power was dropping off (unlike when traction control is cutting in under normal conditions), when cruising home the light had come on 'permanently' i.e. until I switched off ignition and re-started. This, along with the symptoms, is what makes me think it could well be some issue with the traction control system. I've recently had a rear suspension arm replaced; could that have disrupted a sensor or something?

3)However, I'll also add that I've also recently had the coils replaced - might it be to do with this?

Has anyone experienced similar, or have any other ideas...?

Cheers

You should get the fault codes read first of all, as it sounds like you may have a dodgy ABS sensor.

Or, if it is a coilpack issue, again it'll log a fault code.

So, fault codes is where it's at to start with.
