I think that's slightly different. In the OP case, the woman didn't even see the ipad. If she had, she'd have run a mile. The scam run in this country is to show a working laptop, then after doing the deal, go back to the boot, saying you'll throw in a free laptop bag, fiddle around inside the boot for a few seconds, then bring out the bag pre-packed with a phonebook. The odd thing about this is that nobody stops to check inside. I mean, I even stop to check inside bags when I've bought things from shops!
