Had the battery disconnected to clean the Throttle Body and few other odds and ends. Reconnected the battery only to discover I know need to know my Radio Pin Number to use the radio again.

I'm not the original owner, and they've not included the Radio Pin Number Card with the manual I received with the car. Have phoned the Ford garage that sold it when new, but they didn't keep a record of the Radio Pin Number at the time, or so they're telling my anyway.

My local Dealer wants £10 to pull the radio out and get hold of the Pin Number from Ford. I know it's only a tenner, but is it something you can do yourself? Once the radio is out is there a website or Ford contact number I can use, the reference number that will be given on the back of the radio, to gain the Radio Pin Number.

There are the two sets of twin square holes seen to the let and right of the radio face. Are these the access points for popping the radio out? If so, what/how do you use them. Is it a prod or a turn, etc?

Whether Ford will give you the PIN is another matter.

I'd just pay the tenner myself - doesnt seem harsh.

You poke stereo removal keys in there and they will click. The stereo will lift freely from the console. They are cheap to pick up, but on my old Focus i used a wire coathanger! Was just as effective.

Assuming you can get the radio out, for many radios the PIN is derived from the serial number and you can download a free program to calculate it - just search for the make/model off the label.

Halfords sell the radio removal tools for a few quid, you can do it with some small strong flathead screwdivers.

Then have a google for ford radio key, or head over to Ukfiestanetwork and post on their with the long code and someone will give you the pin.

You know how to enter it too?

Had this problem in my fiesta a few weeks ago.

The pin type things for taking the radio out look like this;

Also, when you get a code, make sure you don't keep making mistakes! 10 mistakes and it'll lock itself for good!

Was just about to ask how you depress the 4 holes at the same time? Have a pair of small narrow screw drivers in it, (have already tried from the advice so far) but was thinking this feels like it needs all 4 holes depressed at the same time. Not just 2 at a time. Any tricks of the trade?

Don't know if I've got 4 of the buggers that will all fit at the same time. Big thanks for the info so far. thumbup

A small garage would probably have the pins, a ford dealer will pop it out if you tell them you are buying a new head unit (my local one will anyway), or when I needed to remove on I bought a set of pins from a motor factor for £2.

Once you have the stereo out and the serial number post on this thread. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Have done dozens of these over the years with the proper pins.
You need all 4 at the same time to extract it cleanly, should be able to feel a side move when you have two in correctly.

Could be better off getting the radio pins (pic posted above) from ebay for a quid or two.

Try allen keys if you have them. If not then make some out of a wire coat hanger - I did this last week and it worked no problem.

If you don't already know you need to put the keys into the holes and push each side away from the centre and then pull outwards.

Thats a M-series radio

There is a little program you can run on windoze that spits out the PIN number when you plug in the serial number

I might have it somewhere at home where i haven't got a clue

This, I used to make them out of a wire coathanger, a pair of pliers will cut through no problems

So just snip the bottom section at each end, snip in the middle and then bend each piece as required, et voila

Thanks.

And finally, press No 5 just the once, to then enter the code into the radio.
