I bought four tyres from Camskill as they had by far the best prices (again), but cannot find any local fitters willing to fit them/ fit them for a resonable charge.

What is the typical going rate these days to fit four tyres?

£38 the last time I had four fitted. That's valves, balancing, disposal of the old ones. By the time that's factored in, I just find it's cheaper to get the local guys to order in whatever I want.

Yup.

What you've got to remember is that most tyre fitters are also tyre suppliers and subsidise the cost of fitting through the markup they make on selling the tyres themselves.

I'm lucky though as my bro-in-law has tyre fitting and balancing machines.....

£7.50 a tyre - with the odd slab of lager thrown in now & then (used to change a set a month for me when I was doing a lot of trackdays).

Most tyre fitters don't make much money on the actual fitting, you'll just have to keep asking around. Try finding a general repairs garage that also fits tyres.

Try Hi Q, £12 per wheel inc valve and balancing.

I've never seen the attraction of buying tyres from one place and having them fitted in another. Too much scope for "passing the buck" in the event of any problems.

My usual lot are 20 quid for fitting and balancing a pair, or 35 quid for a full set fit/balance.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was being quoted £70 for fitting and balancing all four (in Canterbury btw). It's just a wee bit more than the £20 I used to pay while living in Glasgow (damn Southern price mark ups).

I'll try the local Hi Q and general repair shops too in that case.

I normally ask my local garage to change my (internet purchased) tyres when I leave the car with them for a service. That way I only get charged a nominal fee.

I pay £35 for 4 fit and balance but to be fair to them I always get it tracked at the same time to give them chance to make some money as this is a local indy, not a national.

If I take the tyres and wheels to my local, they do a set for £20. I've had places refuse to do it though.
