Attending Nurburgring 24Hrs, what date next year?

I've just been reading up on this as I really fancy it, but have seen both 17th - 20th of May listed for a package deal on a website. Just wanted to confirm that's right?
What is camping like at the Ring? I've been before, about 6 years ago, but stayed in one of the hotels.
With the package deals being over 4 days, does that mean that the Ring is open to the public for two of those days, or is it closed for the full four days around the race?
